Conclusion

Pro-social Content

"Singular Indestructible Droid" emphasizes that people are spiritual beings in fleshly "cages." Mourning the events of 9-11, lead singer Jacoby Shaddix is saddened by _ate and destruction, deciding "I believe in love/ I believe in forever" ("Lovehatetragedy"). On "Walking Through Barbed Wire," he tells a friend on death’s doorstep that he’d willingly take that person’s place. "Gouge Away" alludes to the life of Samson in Judges 16, however . . .

Objectionable Content

Violent anger erupts in an unclear context, aggravated by marijuana use. Emotional distress leads a man to seek comfort in alcohol on "Decompression Period," "She Loves Me Not," "Black Clouds" and "Time and Time Again," which responds to relational problems by concluding, "I need a bottle/I need some pills/I need a friend/I need some thrills." Angry at himself and bitter toward the world in general, a guy believes that "Life Is a Bullet." That track and others use the f-word. On "Born with Nothing, Die with Everything," the singer advises fans to trust no one but themselves, and suggests that truth lies within. Elsewhere on the disc, Shaddix claims to be filthy, horny, nasty, paranoid, selfish, demented, sick and twisted.

Summary Advisory

Apparently given its title by the same pause-impaired person who named TLC’s Crazysexycool and Danzig’s Thrall:Demonsweatlive, Lovehatetragedy features tortured souls unleashing their angst on the public. A few good messages, but Papa Roach will bug discriminating families.
