“Try Again,” “I’m Still in Love with You” and “One More Day” all desire relational reconciliation. “Thank You (The J.G. Interlude)” is a gospel tune thanking God for his protection, blessing and peace.
These jet-setters brag about a high-rollin’ night on the town filled with gambling and drinking (“Oh Yeah, It Feels So Good”). The popular single “Hit Me Off” is one long sexual proposition. On “How Do You Like Your Love Served,” the singers use innuendo to ask a woman her preferred sexual positions and activities. “Shop Around” promotes sex with multiple partners (“A man’s got to do every woman he can ’cause it’s in our nature”) while reducing courtship to hormonally charged browsing.
The disc’s velvety vocals and urban grooves sound great. Too bad New Edition’s few positive themes get lost amid silver-tongued advances and lewd prowling. Wise families will run away from Home. [SEE ALSO: LSG]
