AN AUDIO/VIDEO SNAPSHOT REVIEW

The made-for-TV movie A Walk in My Shoes focuses on an unforgiving English teacher named Trish who’s not a very understanding sort. In fact, she has a difficult time with students who just don’t put in the necessary effort—especially one particular kid who seems to care more about basketball than her class. The kid’s mom begs for another chance for her boy, but Trish isn’t sympathetic. And she wonders why the woman can’t just apply some decent parenting skills.

But then, in the midst of a car accident, Trish meets a mysterious stranger intent on helping her see things differently. And the teacher awakes to find that she’s supernaturally traded lives with the basketball player’s mom. Through poverty, tough times and eventually eviction, Trish starts to see the other woman’s struggles. And in the process, learns how her self-centered ways had a negative impact on everyone in her life.

A Walk in My Shoes is a Walmart/Procter & Gamble Family Night movie that airs on NBC (Friday, Dec. 3). It’s a sunny tale that stresses helping the less fortunate and encourages empathy and good communication. What’s more, this enjoyable and wholesome programming could be used to prompt some family room discussions.
