Jason Nevins
All Music Guide
Cut-and-paste mixmaster Jason Nevins was born in New York City in 1970; he began DJing while working at his college radio station at Arizona State University, and upon returning the East Coast began creating his first remixes. After producing a handful of compilation tracks, he issued his self-titled debut EP in 1994, followed in 1995 by the full-length Green. Remixes for Janet Jackson and Lil Kim followed before Nevins rocketed to international fame in 1997 with his mix of the Run-D.M.C. classic Its Like That, which topped pop charts across Europe on its way to selling over three million copies. Much of Nevins subsequent work also reflected his love for 80s hits, with reworkings of Run-D.M.C.s Its Tricky and Rob Bases It Takes Two as well as Falcos Der Kommissar and Toni Basils Mickey appearing soon after.
